This is an incredible weight loss program that is ideal in a number of situations. For quick starts
or for breaking your plateaus this is the program for you. For people who have the “apple body” type, in
other words the person that tends to gain weight more centrally around the middle, above the waist line more than below the
waist line. Also, for people who have a family history of diabetes, or have been obese or really dealing with weight
issues for a long time or people who have been told by their doctor that it is medically very important for them to lose weight.
This could be an ideal program for you because you’re likely to be the person who has what we call “insulin resistance”.
And that individual tends to secrete insulin more so than the average person, insulin tends to make you want to store fat
as opposed to burn fat so people in these sort of situations really have a hard time losing weight and unfortunately have
a very easy time gaining weight.
So this is the ideal program for these situations. And this is a program you may want to avoid
or discuss with your doctor if you have kidney disease, gall bladder problems or have had gout. If you have any serious
medical problems it’s always good to check with your doctor before embarking on any weight management program.
Now, lets go through the concepts. Why is it that it’s a low-carbohydrates system? Well
this goes back to this insulin resistance and were trying to create a weight lose program that helps your body and signals
your body less so to secrete insulin which is that fat storing hormone that we don’t want to have around as much.
So, by virtue of having a low-carbohydrate diet you can decrease your insulin production and preferentially lose fat and turn
your body fat into your fuel and that process is very powerful for not only weight management but preferentially losing fat.
Why
High-Protein? Well, this is extremely important for several reasons. Number one, protein in your diet helps protect
your lean muscle mass and the more muscle you have the better your metabolism which is one of the reasons why men tend to
lose weight more easily than women and on this program men will lose weight more dramatically than women strictly because
of the muscle mass concept. So women the message here for you is to exercise, to eat your high-protein intake to build
muscle so you can also improve your metabolism and help with the weight lose process. Protein is also filling so it’s
a great food to be eating in order to just feel full longer and one of the reasons its filling is because protein is a little
harder for the body to digest, it actually is considered to be thermogenic itself. In other words you use calories to
digest protein, which is not true carbohydrates or fat. So those are the basic concepts.
Now what are the important aspects of this program to be successful? Number one, you must eat at least
5 times per day, which is a little different then the traditional program. Five times a day, how we like you to break
that down is as follows: two of the high-protein, low-carbohydrate shake, (the gold shake - two shakes a day) these are mixed
in water, we’ll go through this in future messages; and two other products, soups, juices or bars. And we also
want you to have either one large or two smaller meals. By large we mean a good protein serving, your vegetables off
your green list. The meal planner that Herbalife provides gives you a very specific suggestion on your carbohydrate
choices, your protein, and your fats stay within the green list and stay away from the yellow and the red list.
It is very important as you’re mobilizing fat and losing weight to drink lots of water, you’ll
feel better and you’ll be well hydrated your tissues will be healthier and it really helps flush the fat out of your
system. Additionally, stay with the cellular nutrition program so that we can assure that we have no new nutritional deficiencies
developing so that no matter what food you choose to eat in using in combination our high-protein, low-carbohydrate products
